When you own an Evo you got to understand more technical knowledge then your average honda driver. The Evo Mitsubishi is a high performance vehicle that was build to go fast and look good doing it.

How does the Active Center  Differential actually work?

this is a common talked about subject.  If your rolling with an old school evo like XIII or IX then this is for you. Basically the ACD is there to limit your tires from going to slow or going too fast.  So when you go around a corner one of your tires is moving faster then the Other.  What the ACD does is insure that the slowest tire is moving at the same pace as the other wheel on the same axis.

Slipping slows you down and leads to spin outs and sluggish pull out from turning corners. The Evo that does the best job at turning corners faster is the new Evo X. It’s almost impossible to get that thing to drift let alone slip.

Tarmac…

This is the setting you’ll probably use most often. It’s meant for hugging the road. This activates the ACD at it’s most strict. The non slip compoments act immediately when one of the car’s tires begins to move faster then the other. This is most satisfactory for going really fast around corners.

Gravel…

If your into dirt rallying then Gravel will be your option. Unlike Tarmac the non slip cpu allows your tires to slip longer so that you can slide your car around corners faster. It doesn’t responder right away, but it gives you some lee way to get your car in the right position then kicks in so you will not spend most your race sliding.

Snow…

This setting is the most loose when it comes to non engaging your ACD. Obviously if your going to drive this baby throught some snow then you want to choice this as your option. Again this is for more of an off road drive, and with this setting the ACD takes even longer to respond.

How SAWC Affects Your Driving Experience

* SAWC  stands for Super All Wheel Control. This advanced technology is only found in the Evo X models. Unlike the ACD, the SAWC intergreats managment of ACD, AYC, ASC and Sports ABS components.

*Management of all these systems allows The SAWC to regulate torque and braking force at each wheel no matter if your conering, accelerating, or decelerating.

* Meaning Faster Launches, Faster speeds Around Corners, and Faster on the dime Braking. This positions the Evo X to be one of the fastest Evo on the track because of the traction control Mitsubishi was able to achieve.
